Basement Epoxy or Polyaspartic Flooring

Basement Floor Coating Services

Your basement doesn’t have to be a dark space for storage and nothing else. Turn your basement into a welcoming environment that gives you the most of your home’s living space! You don’t necessarily need to have a finished basement to require coating placed by Twisted Floors.

Our concrete floor coating can upgrade your basement floors, making it an overall better storage space or for any other usage. Our polyurea polyaspartic coating (often called “epoxy coating”) increases the usage of your basement floor. A damaged, cracked or unfinished concrete floor can be hazardous, not just from stepping on a crack, but allowing moisture and unwanted pests inside.

Our Floor Coating Installation Process For Basements

First, we’ll give you a detailed overview of your basement floor’s current condition. Before applying the coating, we will sand down the cracks and bumps to create an even surface. After the material has set and dried, we conduct a final inspection to ensure your flooring meets our high standards.

Polyurea polyaspartic also provides you with many more benefits than an epoxy coating. When epoxy flooring wears down, it may leave a tacky or sticky surface behind. Polyurea polyaspartic is much stronger, as it bonds directly to the concrete itself and is resistant to high temperatures, heavy impact, and abrasives or chemicals. The thickness of the coating can be controlled and it dries faster than epoxy as well.

Epoxy flooring services should only be installed by a licensed professional – this is NOT a DIY project you can attempt yourself.

Basement Polished Concrete Coating Services

We offer an additional type of flooring to our basement concrete flooring division called polished concrete. Polished concrete is when your existing basement concrete floor is ground down using diamond polishing pads that create a smooth and shiny surface.

Polished Concrete comes in 3 types of finishes:

  • Cream Finish: Simply polished with diamond pads to enhance the floor’s natural color.
  • Salt and Pepper: As the name suggests, exposing the more refined grains of aggregates gives the surface a speckled or salt-and-pepper look.
  • Full Aggregate: the concrete surface is heavily grounded to expose the aggregates in the concrete.

When you need ultimate longevity and an easy-to-clean surface we highly recommend polished concrete for your basement since it leaves you with an absolutely gorgeous floor just by using the existing concrete itself.

The reason our polished concrete system has such longevity is that we are not placing a chemical on top of the concrete that creates a wear layer. We are actually refining the actual concrete itself to produce a long-lasting shine.

We have found that polyurea polyaspartic garage floor coatings provide the best combination of durability, toughness, and superior aesthetic appeal for the money. Compared with traditional epoxy coatings, the polyurea polyaspartic coatings we install are highly resistant to chemical and oil spills, are highly resilient against abrasions, and are easy to clean.

The coatings are available in various colors and designs and provide a high gloss finish. The coating material cures and hardens quickly, and our professional installation can be completed with your garage back in service in only 24 hours. Polyurea polyaspartic garage floors bind securely to the main concrete flooring, providing a slip-resistant surface that isn’t sticky. All floors and floor coatings can be slippery when wet, our concrete coatings are less slippery than regular concrete.

How do you know that your floors are less slippery than concrete?

Osha has slip resistance requirements for floors. Concrete is around a 0.5 on the “slip meter”. Osha requires a 0.6 and our coatings are around a 0.7.

Typically, it can be done in one day. In some cases, it could take two days. We will discuss these details during your free estimate for your garage floor coating.

Summer: 24 hours after installation, and you can drive on them in 48 Hours.

Winter: 36 Hours, and 72 hours to drive on.

According to the DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, almost 63% of all U.S. households have a garage or carport available to them, and nothing beats working in the garage when the Wisconsin winter weather drives you inside. Of course, it is essential to have a warm garage to work or hang out in, and radiant floor heating is very popular in garages in our area. Our professionally installed garage floor coatings are safe for use with properly designed and installed radiant heating systems and are highly efficient in sending warmth up through your garage floor. The polyurea polyaspartic coatings we install maintain superior adhesion on a heated floor, unlike many older tile and epoxy designs.

Our installation process is not damaging to your existing heating elements, and our polyaspartic materials easily handle the transfer of radiant heat. The surface is easy to clean, even after you bring in snow and ice when parking your vehicle. In the summer months, it also stands up to outside heat and sunlight.
