This past week, Twisted Floors owners Cali and Trevin Simes attended the World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas. The World of Concrete is the concrete industry’s only annual international trade show dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries, hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The show is full of indoor and outdoor exhibits, lots of educational training sessions, and lots of events. You get to witness all of the newest products, innovations, equipment, and technologies hitting the market and the concrete industry.
This year, Twisted Floors took a few of the educational classes to dive deeper into education and strengthen our knowledge. We pride ourselves on our extensive knowledge and are always interested in learning and continuing our education.
We took a “Fundamentals of Polished Concrete” course presented by Bob Harris and Chris Sullivan, who are pioneers in the industry. Their knowledge of the industry is absolutely incredible, and listening to them was an honor.
One of the quotes from the class was: “If you want to differentiate yourself from your competition and really stand out, the answer is not bigger, but better. In polishing, the devil truly is in the details. If you take care of the little things, the big things will usually take care of themselves.”
We also took a course, “Fundamentals of Sealers and Coatings for Decorative Concrete,” by Chris Sullivan. We learned the nitty-gritty of what types of sealers are better for certain situations and why. Learning from Chris Sullivan and Bob Harris was truly eye-opening!
Another exciting part of the show was joining the Women’s Association of Concrete Professionals. Their mission statement is: “We are committed to mentoring, training, supporting, positively impacting, and empowering current and future women in the concrete industry.”
We were excited to attend a few private events hosted by Ameripolish, Metzger McGuire, and Badass Concrete Polishers & Decorative Concrete Masters.
We loved visiting a few of our favorite supplier booths, such as SASE, Metzger McGuire, Torginol, Danner Boots, and more!
We are excited for the knowledge we gained, the vision we have for 2025, and our passion to keep thriving and growing in the industry.
